Owen retired to Shropshire, from Essex, and lived in Llanymynech where he continued his prolific nest-finding and egg-collecting. In this paper he describes in detail the species’ territorial flights based on observations in both Essex and Shropshire, much of the latter probably within a short distance of Llanymynech. See also his paper on The larder of the Red-backed Shrike published in 1948.
