Charles Gawen wrote the only known field Journal account of Shropshire’s birds in the nineteenth century. This ornithological field Journal contains many stories of the birds he encountered. It was largely written at Chetwynd Park and additionally the Scilly Isles, Wiltshire and Somerset.

This book contains Volume II, of the Journal covering 1888 – 1911.

We hope in future Volume I will come to light.
